What makes you 'Beacon Farms'?

Beacon Farms is not a singular location. It is a marketplace at its core, but one unlike any other. Beacon Farms is a leading light that guides you to the finest sustainable British produce – a beacon for sustainably farmed, expertly prepared, award-winning produce.

While we do rear produce from our very own farm, we know we cannot do this alone. So, we have partnered with a hand-selected network of farmers, growers, and producers who produce the very best food to the highest standards of welfare and environmental sustainability. Together, these form Beacon Farms. Through this website, we provide nationwide access to proper produce for individuals who care where their food comes from, its impact on the planet, and who enjoy eating great-tasting produce. By sourcing produce directly from the farm, this also allows us to reward farmers directly for farming sustainably by paying them a fair price.

Creating great-tasting produce in a way that supports and encourages our natural environment to thrive may seem like common sense, but with the price pressure on farmers from supermarket chains, it is rare. So here, we do things differently, with honesty and transparency about how your food is produced and why it is so important. We call this 'doing the ordinary to create the extraordinary.

The honest answer is that frozen produce is a better way to supply, distribute, shop for, and consume meat... here's why:

- It’s 100% natural. Freezing our produce allows us to preserve our meat for long periods without the use of artificial preservatives.

- It locks in the freshness and flavour. From the moment the animal is slaughtered, the clock is ticking. Different meats require different ageing times. For example, all of our beef is dry-aged for 28 days before butchering for optimum flavour. However, once it passes this point of optimum, it begins to deteriorate consistently, to the point where it is no longer edible. If left fresh, it must be packed, stored, picked, and shipped to you, and then sit in your fridge before you can consume it. Chances are, you never eat fresh meat at its best. By freezing, we lock it at its optimum for you to enjoy at your convenience.

- It reduces food waste. Not only will you be able to guarantee that you can consume the produce before it reaches its best-before date, but freezing is the only method to achieve carcass balance, so no part of the animal is wasted.

- It is for convenience. Once frozen, our meat can be stored for up to 365 days. This means you can safely store and enjoy it as and when you wish. Nothing goes to waste.

When we freeze our meat, we follow a unique process. We professionally blast-freeze most of our produce, following a specific procedure to rapidly preserve the product at its optimum quality without affecting the taste or texture.

The process of blast freezing is unlike freezing produce at home. We rapidly reduce the temperature in an accelerated process to ensure the ice crystals formed remain as small as possible, therefore not affecting the taste or texture of the meat. Once complete, we can then send our incredible product directly to your door, ready for you to enjoy at your convenience, when the product is still at its best.

You can either defrost and enjoy upon arrival or pop the order into the freezer to enjoy as you wish. Try it for yourself; you will not be disappointed.

Yes, we have a minimum order value of £30 to help cover the cost of our recyclable and compostable packaging.

Our produce is sourced directly from the farm. The beef and lamb come from our very own farm in the heart of Devon. Our free-range pork comes from Simon at Sidbury and Henry in Churchinford. Our outdoor-reared free-range poultry comes from James near Exeter. Our wild venison is stalked by Curtis Pitts from Devon. All produce is then prepared in-house by our expert team of Master Butchers and Bakers.
